The candidates who succeed are those who have: (1) Identified the 5–8 most likely questions for the role, (2) Prepared 3–5 "stories" that can be adapted to multiple questions, (3) Practiced structuring their responses with STAR or other proven frameworks, (4) Prepared thoughtful questions for the interviewer. This session addresses all of these preparation dimensions. ## Step-by-Step Instructions 1. **PM Case Types**: Product design ('Design a product for X'), Product improvement ('Improve Google Maps'), Product strategy ('Should Google enter the gaming market?'), Prioritization ('Rank these 5 features'), Metrics/Root cause ('DAU dropped 15% — why?') 2. **The PM Case Framework**: (1) Clarify the goal and constraints, (2) Define the user and their problems, (3) Brainstorm solutions, (4) Prioritize with explicit criteria, (5) Recommend with rationale, (6) Discuss tradeoffs and success metrics 3. **User-Centered Thinking**: PM interviewers evaluate whether you start from user needs or jump to solutions. Always begin with: 'Who is the user? What are their goals? What are their pain points?' before proposing anything. 4. **Prioritization Frameworks**: RICE (Reach, Impact, Confidence, Effort), ICE (Impact, Confidence, Ease), the Opportunity Score method — know at least 2 prioritization frameworks and when to apply each 5. **Metrics Definition**: Every product design answer needs success metrics — 'I would measure success by daily active users, time-to-first-value, and 7-day retention rate' — demonstrate quantitative thinking 6. **Structuring Under Pressure**: PM cases have no single right answer — the evaluation is on your thinking process.
